During their time at primary school, children will encounter many of life’s challenges for the first time. To help keep them safe and healthy it is important that they develop the correct skills to manage different influences and pressures that they may be presented with. It is essential that children understand that their choices can lead to different consequences or outcomes.

Together with positive family influence it is vital that schools provide children with educational programmes which can encourage and empower children to lead happy, healthy and successful lives.

For the past four years Hayley Sherwood, Managing Director for 1decision, together with leading consultants and schools have developed a unique platform for children aged 5 – 8.

1decision has developed a concept to help children understand the power of choice, focusing on prevention not cure. The core of the programme is a series of videos with alternative endings which allow the children to choose the characters’ progression. Topics within the programme focus on prominent issues faced in society today.

In addition to this primary school programme, 1decision are currently working in partnership with Stevenage and Potters Bar Fire Service to create more resources for the UK.

The aim of the partnership is to raise awareness to some of the issues our fire service face daily and to reduce incidents. The content will focus on hoax calling, petty arson and texting whilst driving.

Station Commander Peter Hatherley commented “Stevenage Firefighters look forward to working in partnership with the 1decision team, this is a great opportunity to educate and make our children safer”

To help develop and complete the project, 1decision have applied for funding from the Herts Crime Commissioner. In support of the project, Local Member of Parliament Stephen McPartland visited Stevenage Fire Station alongside some of the students from Almond Hill Primary School.

Stephen commented “The 1decision programme is a fantastic platform which provides children with essential information to encourage positive choices. I look forward to seeing the resources produced from this partnership”
