Online Challenges
Online challenges are becoming increasingly popular among children and young people, often spreading rapidly across social media platforms. While some challenges may seem fun or harmless, others can pose serious risks to a child’s safety and wellbeing.
This resource has been created by 1decision, in partnership with Ellen Roome, Lisa Kenevan, and Hollie Dance - three dedicated campaigners who, after the tragic loss of their teenage sons, now work tirelessly to raise awareness of the hidden dangers online, helping to protect other families from similar heartbreak.
To help schools educate pupils about this important topic, we have developed an assembly in collaboration with Ellen. To learn more about Ellen’s story, please visit: www.joolslaw.co.uk
‘Click or Quit?’ aims to equip children with the knowledge and confidence to recognise online risks and make safer choices, helping to prevent harm to themselves and others.
For Schools
This assembly covers a range of important topics, including the benefits and risks of communicating online, understanding age restrictions, what to consider before taking part in an online challenge, and how to create a positive online experience. The assembly also includes a powerful video featuring Ellen Roome’s story.
A letter for parents and carers, providing more information about the assembly and its content, is available to download below.
For Parents/Carers
In addition, we have created a parent/carer version of the assembly to support conversations at home. We recommend that parents and carers review the content and watch the videos beforehand, before going through it with their children.
For further support, please download the information pack below. This pack also includes additional resources and support from Lisa Kenevan and Holly Dance from the Be Challenge Aware Campaign.

Wider Work Within Schools
Click or Quit addresses just one of the essential topics that children urgently need to learn about today. This vital education must sit alongside wider efforts to prevent knife crime, violence, drug abuse, poor mental health, and other serious challenges facing young people. By equipping children with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to make safer choices both online and offline, we can help protect their futures and support their personal development.
If you would like to help us deliver this broader work, please consider supporting our Lessons4Life campaign. Together, we can ensure every child has access to the life lessons they need to stay safe, thrive, and build a positive future beyond the classroom.
