1decision, in collaboration with The Little Princess Trust and with support from the Children & Young People's Cancer Association (CCLG), is proud to announce that its free assembly and lesson pack has been awarded Highly Commended in the 2025 Teach Primary Awards in the Free Resource category.
Developed to support primary schools in approaching the topic of cancer with sensitivity, empathy, and hope, the resource helps children understand the role of charities, the importance of research, and how small acts of kindness can make a big difference. The recognition comes during The Little Princess Trust’s 20th anniversary year, marking a pivotal moment in the charity’s ongoing commitment to supporting children and young people affected by cancer.
To date, more than 1,200 schools have accessed the free materials, which include a flexible assembly, detailed lesson plan, teacher guide, and parent/carer pack. The resource is designed to reduce anxiety and stigma surrounding the word cancer, while promoting empathy, scientific understanding, and positive discussion within school communities.

Recognition for the successful partnership came as The Little Princess Trust marked its 20th anniversary.
Phil Brace, Chief Executive of The Little Princess Trust, said: “It is so pleasing to see this partnership recognised for the way it helps teachers approach the subject of cancer with sensitivity and hope. Knowing that thousands of children have benefited from the materials is incredibly encouraging and this recognition during our 20th anniversary year is a wonderful reminder of the impact that collaboration and kindness can have in supporting young people.”
The Teach Primary Awards honour exceptional educational resources that demonstrate innovation, impact, and classroom value. This Highly Commended recognition reflects the strength and quality of the resource’s approach.
Hayley Sherwood, Founder of 1decision, said: “We are delighted to receive this recognition. This project means so much to us because it supports schools to talk about cancer with compassion, honesty, and hope. Our collaboration with The Little Princess Trust, our chosen charity, and the CCLG reflects our shared commitment to creating innovative educational materials that inspire empathy and understanding. We hope this recognition helps to increase the reach of this valuable resource.”
